On December 10th, 1805 in Newburyport, Massachusetts, William Lloyd Garrison was born.

 

One day in 1818, he began writing as a journalist as he met Ephraim W. Allen. He was under a 7 year apprenticeship contract as an editor and a writer for he newspaper, Newburyport Herald. This is where he learned the art of setting type and writing.

After he finished his apprenticeship, he moved on to write and work for various newspapers until in 1828, he met  Benjamin Lundy. This would mark the start of his abolitionist movement.
